Orlando: The Ultimate US Experience

I have friends who arrived to this country after growing up overseas. While she is pursuing citizenship, trying to learn how to become a US citizen, and working at her own Internet marketing consultant business, she had a lot of questions. One of those questions was “what exactly is American?” She wants to experience American foods, American clothes, and American hobbies as she learns more about the country she has chosen.

As I try to explain to my friend the ins and outs of her adopted country, I realize how many things come from overseas. Common American foods — such as pizza, lasagna, and other favorites — are actually imports. At least there’s always apple pie.

Luckily, there was one experience than I could easily claim as All-American — a trip to Florida. We traveled together to Orlando recently and stayed at Orlando vacation resort. My friend was captivated. The idea of a resort really appealled to her, and she was pleased with her all-American holiday. As for myself, I was pleased that I’d taken her to a resort, and not a hotel. At our resort, we were able to enjoy:

  • Unprecedented service. Orlando resorts pride themselves on offering tourists an exceptional experience, and our own resort was certainly no different. We were able to order room service 24 hours a day, there was a concierge service, and everything we needed, the front desk was able to help us with. From finding tickets to finding places to go, it was no problem. And service was always prompt and friendly. There’s definitely a difference when you stay somewhere where hospitality is a part of the job description.

  • A budget friendly vacation. Because my friend was just starting up her business, we didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation but we still needed to get away and my friend still wanted to see as much of Florida as possible. Luckily, resorts offer all-inclusive packages, so we didn’t have to worry about blowing our budget on incidentals such as breakfasts, hotel rooms, and other amenities. We knew exactly how much our vacation would cost so we didn’t have to worry about our budget, and we ended up paying less than we would have paid if we had paid for accommodations, tickets, and meals separately.

  • Flexibility. Even though everything was included, we were free to head out and dine anywhere we wanted. It was easy for us to skip out on dinner sometimes and head out on the town. Plus, with all the money we saved on a vacation package, we were easily able to afford it.

  • Location. There are truly no better resort locations than Orlando. We were within easy driving distance of Disney World — easily the All-American vacation spot that my friend loved best — and we were also close to concert venues, sparkling beaches, and nightclubs. It was easy to have a blast, and we didn’t need an expensive rental car for many attractions.
